Just Did An IVF? Send In The Clown!
It’s not every day, no let me change that more often than not when I start reading the latest news stories on infertility and IVF procedures or statistics that there really is no humor to it. Today however was one of those rare and lucky days when an article about a new study and I use that term loosely concerning the increased odds that happened right after an IVF procedure in the 30 minutes after the embryo is placed in the womb that a visit to the patient from a medical doctor dressed as a clown chef.
Yes you read that correctly and I had to go back and read that article twice myself as the thought of my wife’s fertility doc coming into the room after the embryos were placed and dressed up as a clown would have been rather amusing to say the least. It definitely would have helped to lighten the mood which anyone that has been through an IVF procedure will tell you it’s a wee bit stressful! So the idea of your fertility doc showing up in some sort of costume at the point when you are normally sitting still in a room for 30 minutes waiting, praying and stressing out about if this IVF procedure will work this time would have been a great way to break that tension.
I think those of us that have had to fight infertility for any amount of time can agree that stress is major factor when it comes to the cause of infertility. So why not encourage a little humor to help with fight against infertility. Anyway here is the link to the original story at the Time website, what are your thoughts on some well placed humor at vital times like right after the placement of the embryos? Please leave your responses in the comments section down below and as always keep fighting and don’t let IF win!
