Infertility Awareness Movement
Good day to you internet! Today I felt compelled to write a new post for this infertility blog and I realize that it has been quite a long time since I have written anything new here. I recently saw a little blurb that caught my eye with regards to infertility and it was something that I wanted to get behind and help get the word out for.
I am referring to next week which is a big week when it comes to the landscape of infertility in the public eye at least I hope it will be a big week and that it gets a whole bunch of media attention both on the internet and on TV. In case you did not hear it yet or were just not aware of it next week is National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) and it’s a cause that has been pushed out there by the National Infertility Association or as most interwebs know it as Resolve.
They have been around for a long time even before the internet became free if you can believe that
Anyway when it comes to being an advocate for fighting infertility they don’t get much bigger than that non-profit organization so if you were not aware of them then by all means go check them out now!
If you did not click on that little link and you are still here reading this than you must know who Resolve is. If that’s the case good for you for finding them and I am sorry that you had a reason to find them in the first place because that means you also have infertility issues and that just sucks ![]()
So what is the main purpose of NIAW anyway you may be wondering? To increase the infertility awareness of the public of course and according to their site it’s a disease that is now effecting well over 7 million people in America and that is just this country! The problems with fertility is not limited to just one country either this is a growing problem around the world that needs more advocates like Resolve to get the word out. Just to let you know this is the first time that I have had the good fortune of hearing about this sponsored week and it is the 21st year that they have done this, WTF!
Yeah that’s how little attention this issue still gets when it comes to the general public and how little the media does focus on it. As a family we have dealt with infertility for over ten years now and it’s sad to say that this was the first time we had ever heard of NIAW. Which was my main motivation for writing this post in the first place and was one of my original reasons for starting this blog and that was to get the word out and be an advocate for the fight against infertility.
If even one person gets something out of this post or my blog than it’s all worth it as far as I am concerned. I feel like reading the news clips and writing this post has reignited my passion to write more posts again on the subject of infertility so be sure and check back here over the next few weeks as I start to write here this infertility blog again.
