IVF Increases Ovarian Cancer Risk By 4 Is It Still Worth It?

OK we all know the risks going into a procedure like IVF, don’t we? The evidence is telling us that those of us that expose our bodies to the drugs that they use for ovarian stimulation to produce more eggs will increase your chances of getting ovarian cancer by more than four. Let’s make that real clear for a moment shall we.

If you decide to put your body through the barrage of pills, shots, creams and any other form of infertility drug to do an IVF procedure you are at 4 times more the risk of getting some form of ovarian cancer than those women that do not. Does this statistic really frighten anyone out there that is genuinely trying to conceive a child? In a situation like this does the reward out weigh the potential risk to your health? After all these kind of tumors are now very treatable so again I would ask is the reward more valuable to you than the risk?

Here is a link to the study that found that women who had gone through an IVF procedure were more than four times as likely than women who had not to develop borderline ovarian cancer.
