Fighting IF!

Invitro Fertilization Sucks – Must Be A Better Way

Found some great information about some alternative treatments and infertility support. First off I have to say thank you the the NY Daily News for their article that puts the spotlight on IVF, the unfortunate embryo mix up story that has been in the news a lot lately but most importantly for including a good lead on finding IVF alternatives.

First off I just want to say that my heart goes out to both families that have been caught in that unfortunate mix up between the embryos being used for the wrong couples. For as long as we have battled infertility I can not imagine what must be going through your head when you find out that the IVF procedure that did work for you was accomplished with the wrong embryo and you are now carrying another IVF couples baby.

There are so many levels of emotional torture to that story that it makes my head and my heart spin just thinking about it. To the credit of the family that was impregnated with the wrong embryo they have carried the baby to full term and will be giving it to the biological family once the baby is born. This was obviously the right thing to do, still I find the whole story so impossible that it happened at all.

The article went on to talk about some of the IVF stats that I am sure we are familiar with by now. How the numbers are rising for women that are faced with fertility problems and as your age rises so does your probability that infertility will be an issue for you as well. Here’s where the IVF article takes a turn in direction of hope especially for those of us that are looking for alternatives infertility treatments to in-vitro fertilization.

They spent a great deal of the article talking to a reproductive endocrinologist by the name of Dr. David Sami. Let’s just say that he has been around the IVF procedure for a long time it stated that he was part of original team back in 1983 that performed the first successful IVF in NY city. He is also a clinical professor at a little medical school some of you may have heard of called Mt. Sinai. Any way here is the quote that really got my attention “Those whose practice is treating infertility, especially IVF teams, are not giving couples the full truth. “Up to 50% of people do not need IVF,” he insists.

WoW!!! 8-O That is a staggering claim that half the IVF procedures being done are not necessary. That just spoke to something that I have believed deep down for a long time, that medical doctors don’t know it all and our society has wrongly put this “all knowing” tag on anyone that has managed to acquire the title of doctor. It’s always refreshing when I  meet or hear stories of a doctor that is brave enough to practice and preach medicine with the idea that he does not know it all and is open to alternative ways to getting results. Especially when it comes to fighting infertility!

The story just gets better from there in terms of finding information for infertility support. You see it turns out that this Dr. Sami has been partnered with a a board-certified herbalist, licensed acupuncturist by the name of Jill Blakeway for years. Together they have been treating women with a combination of Chinese herbs, acupuncture, vitamins and antibiotics just to name a few.

This team has been having such great results over the years that they have pulled their resources together to pen a new book called “Making Babies: A Proven 3-Month Program for Maximum Fertility“. That link takes you directly to the book on Amazon(no affiliate nonsense either ;-) ) needless to say I like many of you are about to do checked it out on Amazon to see if there were some copies of which there are and better yet. There are nine five star reviews of the book praising it for it’s new approach to fighting infertility and it’s use of both western and eastern medicines. If this new 3 month fertility plan helps just one couple than bravo to the team that put it out there! The more infertility support that we find and share with each other the better as far as I am concerned.

I hope that article at the NY Daily News gets a lot of attention but more importantly I hope people read the whole thing to find the wonderful new infertility resource that will hopefully lead to more success stories for a lot more infertile couples.
