What Are The Cancer Risks For IVF Children?

What are the odds of my IVF baby getting cancer later on in life? I will have to admit when I first saw this new post over at the Time website about a study that says there is a link between IVF and childhood cancer rates increasing. When my wife and I were going through all these procedures and reading up on the latest infertility drug information that was being used our main concern and question was always what the long term effect was going to be on my wife.

I don’t think that it ever entered either of our minds at the moment that we were in the middle of all that IVF procedure stuff what the effect of all the IVF drugs would have on the baby. I suppose that is one thing we can be thankful for. That all the failed IVF attempts never resulted in a child for us and we will not be left wondering if we did more harm than good for our family by doing the IVF.

Still it will be in interesting thing to watch as more statistics are gathered in the coming years as the more than 3.5 million IVF babies grow up. According to the article the studies are really not all that conclusive, gee what a surprise there  Just add that to the long ass list of things to worry about when you are fighting infertility!

Here is the link to that post that I am writing about today, obviously it will go into much more detail about the statistics of the most recent studies as well as doctors sounding off about the results and their thoughts on the possible links to cancer and IVF babies as they grow up.
