This was a story that I read about in the India News apparently the demand for healthy sperm donors is on the rise in India as the rise in infertility problems for that countries population rise as well. I was really surprised to know that IVF centers were fielding calls from men as young as 16 according to the report. The real appeal for guys this young according to the reporter is the money that the IVF centers are giving out to their sperm donors.

On the one hand I understand the idea of making some easy money with something that these guys were already doing anyway so why not make some money for it. However the idea of possibly fathering a child or possibly a few children with the help of fertility doctors at that young of an age is not something that would have appealed to me at that age no matter how much they were willing to pay me.

I get that the demand and changes in social circles is making this avenue of fertility solutions more acceptable for both single women and lesbian couples. The idea of making that big of a decision at the young age of 17 or even 18 is purely based on the monetary reward with no thought of the life that may result from their sperm donation. All of this stuff that the report is talking about is happening illegally at the moment as the enforcement of the law that puts age that you are legally permitted to donate sperm at 21.

It’s an interesting issue that has come and not something that I would have considered especially at such a young age.
